A 16-year-old is facing a charge of attempted murder in connection with the stabbing of a man in Halifax on Monday.
According to a Halifax Regional Police news release, officers responded to the reported stabbing on the 300 block of Lacewood Drive at approximately 11:45 a.m. They learned that a youth who allegedly stabbed an 18-year-old man before fleeing the scene on foot .
The victim was taken to hospital with non-life threatening injuries.
The statement says the suspect turned himself in to police shortly after 3:30pm on Monday. They are expected to appear in Halifax Youth Justice Court on Tuesday to face charges of attempted murder and aggravated assault.
In a social media post on Monday, the Halifax Regional Education Center said Halifax West High School was under “hold and secure” between 12:20 pm and 12:55 pm
“This is a precautionary measure while the police respond to an incident developing in the community,” the post read.
