Kaziranga Jeep Safari will be closed from May 16, Elephant Safari from May 1 Achi-News

GUWAHATI: Tourists expecting to explore Kaziranga National Park in Assam this tourist season will have to postpone their plans. The park, acclaimed for its one-horned rhino population and designated a UNESCO World Heritage Site, will have its elephant and jeep safaris suspended for the entire 2023-24 season due to severe weather and poor road conditions.

According to a notification issued by the Divisional Forest Officer of the East Assam Wildlife Division, severe conditions are cited as the reason for the closure. The elephant safari will be discontinued from 1 May 2024, while the jeep safari will be discontinued from 16 May 2024.

Every year, Kaziranga National Park closes its gates during the monsoon season due to heavy rains, making the road conditions dangerous. Those eager to immerse themselves in the beauty of Kaziranga will have to be patient until the park welcomes visitors again for the next tourist season.
