Jammu Srinagar National Highway: A horrific road accident took place in Jammu and Kashmir on Friday (29 March). A cab fell into a ditch on the Jammu-Srinagar National Highway near Ramban, and 10 people died in it. According to local media reports, the cab was going from Jammu to Srinagar with passengers when it met with an accident and fell into a ditch. As soon as information was received about the incident, the rescue operation started after arriving at the spot.

This accident took place on Jammu-Srinagar National Highway near Batri Chashma in Ramban district. The cab carrying passengers fell into a deep ditch. As soon as the local administration got information about the incident, the police, the State Disaster Response Force (SDRF) and the Civilian Quick Response Team (QRT) from Ramban immediately reached the spot. The team immediately descended into the ditch and began the rescue operation and pulled out the bodies of the people.
Rain and darkness become a challenge for rescue operation
The rescue operation started early in the morning. According to the information received, bodies of 10 people have been recovered so far. However, the rescue operation becomes challenging due to the deep trenches present in this area, darkness and continuous rain. Meanwhile, information also emerged that the rescue operation has been stopped for some time. The biggest problem in the rescue operation is rain, because the rescue workers are facing a lot of trouble.

The van fell into a 300 meter ditch
According to the police, this accident happened in the early hours of Friday, as they were informed about the accident at around 1.15 in the morning. The police said that the cab with Taveera’s car was going to Kashmir with passengers, but suddenly an unfortunate incident happened on the way. The cab fell into a 300 meter deep ravine on the Jammu-Srinagar National Highway. The bodies that have been taken out so far have been transferred to the hospital and preparations are being made to notify the families.

Union Minister Jitendra Singh has expressed his grief over the accident in Ramban. He said that he had spoken to DC Ramban Bashir-ul-Haq regarding the tragic road accident. The police, SDRF and Civil QRT have reached the spot. A rescue operation is underway. I am in constant contact. My condolences to the bereaved families.
