New Delhi: The Prime Minister of the country, Narendra Modi, fired a shot at the Congress in the context of the election manifesto. In a highly exclusive interview with News18 Network, he said, “The Congress manifesto for the current Lok Sabha elections gives an impression of the Muslim League.”

Not only this, in that particular interview, Modi also raised the issue of the legacy of development. He also claimed that the opposition is trying to ruin that legacy. In an interaction with Network18 Group Editor-in-Chief Rahul Joshi, Prime Minister Narendra Modi said that he had waited for almost 10 days to expose the ‘bad’ aspects of the Congress manifesto impartially. But some ‘truths’ are finally being forced out.”

In the words of the Prime Minister, “Since the Congress manifesto is being discussed, can anyone tell me that the manifesto of any political party during elections is just something obvious?” It is primarily the responsibility of the press to read the manifesto of each political party. And I waited for when the press comments on this matter. But I commented on that manifesto on the first day. After seeing the manifesto, I felt somewhere that the impression of the Muslim League was clear in it. I thought the press would go crazy over it. But they have only said what the Congress has presented in the manifesto.”

He continued, “Then I thought, this is a big scam in this ecosystem. And I have to bring the truth forward. However, someone should present the bad aspects of that manifesto, I have waited 10 days for this. Because it would be better if it came out in a neutral way. Finally, I had to bring that truth forward.”

When asked if Modi’s claim that the Congress was trying to “redistribute” wealth among Muslims was a real concern, the Prime Minister called on Modi to look carefully at his election campaign. He said, “I think your team has not seen my whole campaign well… You must have seen that my whole election campaign had two goals. One, we worked for the good of society. The biggest difference in this government (compared to the previous ones) is that we specialize in working until the last minute. See, governments are no longer formed to do evil, they want to do good. Some people know how to do good for others, while others expect good things to happen. And I’m a man who believes in hard work to achieve things.”

Elaborating on the initiatives taken by his government, Prime Minister Modi said, “I am going to say in the election that we have built around 4 crore houses for the poor. I have told many people that when you go to the polls, will you help me with a list of those whose houses are yet to be built in those areas. I will continue this work when my third term begins.”

Narendra Modi is also confident of a third term as Prime Minister ever. He even presented his vision of the future. He said, “I want to build another 3 crore houses. Now Ayushman Bharat Yojana is the world’s largest health insurance and health assurance scheme. About 55 crore people are guaranteed treatment in this regard. It also ensures that the Modi government is with you. This time we have announced in the manifesto that any person above 70 years of age, irrespective of their class, social status, background – male and female will get free medical facility up to Rs 5 lakh. Apart from this, we have also informed in the manifesto that we will provide this facility to Asha employees as well. We will even give facilities to transgender people, irrespective of their age.”

The prime minister added, “The state of banks in our country was pathetic. More than half of the country’s population paid to open an account. But the bank did not open their account. Then came Modi and opened 52 crore bank accounts. I took great advantage of it. In fact, I encouraged the issue of direct transfer of benefits using Jan Dhan, Mobile and Aadhaar. 36 lakh crores but a huge amount of money, which has reached people’s accounts through Direct Benefit Transfer. This huge financial inclusion has happened in our country (because of opening accounts). This figure is much higher than the number of accounts opened in the world in a year.”

Comparing his government’s performance with the situation before 2014, Prime Minister Modi said, “You must have seen the situation before 2014? ‘Fragile 5’ was always in the headlines. But today we have become a great economy. The IMF is made up of a group of 150 countries around the world, including China and India. And we can call it a developing country or an emerging economy. “
Regarding Congress foreign wing president Sam Pitroda’s comments on inheritance tax, Prime Minister Narendra Modi said, “One of their great men gave an interview in America. Where the issue of inheritance tax arose, about 55 percent property tax. Now I’m talking about development and succession. And there they talk about robbing that legacy. What they mentioned in the manifesto is the history of their work so far. It is my responsibility to inform the people of the direction they are taking in the country. Now you decide if you want to go with them or not. But it is my responsibility to tell you the truth based on facts and importance.”
