New Delhi: Gokulam Kerala FC went to play in the AFC Women’s Club Championship. Having to return without playing. An e-mail from FIFA on Monday left Indian football in the dark. Kerala FC Women’s team was optimistic even reaching Uzbekistan. When it reaches, it will return. Footballers were hoping. The end was not saved. The Asian Football Confederation has officially informed that Kerala FC will not be able to play in the AFC Women’s Championship.
All India Football Federation expelled by FIFA due to third party interference. The ban will remain in place until elections are held and all control is returned to the new committee of the AIFF. If everything goes well, the exile can be lifted. It also takes time. The Indian national football team (women-men, age-wise) cannot participate in any competition while in exile. Similarly, Indian clubs will not be able to play in any FIFA, AFC competition. Accordingly, Gokulam Kerala FC was disqualified from the AFC Women’s Championship.
AFC has sent a mail to All India Football Federation Acting SecretACHI Sunand Dhar. Kerala FC will not be able to participate in the Women’s Championship, given the reasons for FIFA’s ban. They have to return with the disappointment of not reaching Uzbekistan.
