Eight members of a family, including women and children, were killed when a vehicle they were traveling in plunged into a deep gorge in Buner Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, police confirmed on Thursday.

The unfortunate family was going to Shahi village when they met with the accident near Chagharzai Pandhir, Buner district, officials added.

After being informed, the police and rescue officers rushed to the plan. “The bodies of the deceased are being moved to Daggar Hospital [for medicolegal formalities].

“All of the [eight] the deceased belonged to the same family,” the police added.

The cause of the tragic accident had not yet been determined.

Earlier this month, two people were killed when a truck plunged into a ravine in Upper Kohistan’s Sazeen district, police officials said.

The loaded truck was on its way to Gilgit from Rawalpindi when its driver lost control of the steering while negotiating a sharp turn and as a result fell into the gorge.

Police rushed to the spot and shifted the injured to a nearby health facility where doctors declared Naeem Jan and Tahir Jan, both residents of Charsadda, dead.

According to the police, the bodies were sent to the Charsadda through ambulances.
