Assam: The first phase of the Lok Sabha election is going on across the country and problems have arisen in many places. Miscreants have attacked many polling booths in Manipur. Because of this, voting was disrupted for some time in 5 booths. Voting did not take place in five districts of Nagaland. An unexpected incident also happened in Assam. A car carrying EVMs fell into the river and got submerged. Fortunately, the officers and the driver escaped unhurt.

Accident due to high water level

The SUV car was being transported by boat in the Deopani river. The boat sank due to a sudden rise in the water. Along with this, the car is also submerged in water. The car driver and the polling officer had also somehow managed to get out of the car and save their lives. But due to immersion in water, a technical fault appeared in the EVM. The authorities have decided to change that.

Technical fault in EVM

We sent the vehicle to Amarpur, Saadia to replace the EVM after a technical fault was detected during the election on Friday morning. The driver and an official had left with the EVM. While the vehicle was being transported in a mechanized boat across the Dewani river, its water level and current suddenly increased. Officials said that the boat sank due to the rush of water and that the vehicle was also partially submerged.

A team from the State Disaster Management Police was called to pull the vehicle out of the water. The official said that the EVM, which was supposed to be replaced due to a technical fault, was completely damaged in the accident.

59.7 percent vote

Voting for the first phase of the 18th Lok Sabha elections has ended. Voting was held today for 102 constituencies of 21 states including union territories. When voting closed, it was reported that approximately 59.7 percent of voting had taken place. 63.2% voting in Tamil Nadu, 50.3% in Rajasthan, 57.5% in Uttar Pradesh and 63.3% in Madhya Pradesh.

Along with the Lok Sabha elections, the ongoing assembly elections in Sikkim and Arunachal Pradesh saw voter turnout of 67.5 and 64.7 percent respectively.

Voted for Tamil Nadu (39), Rajasthan (12), Uttar Pradesh (8), Madhya Pradesh (6), Uttarakhand (5), Arunachal Pradesh (2), Meghalaya (2). Voted for Andaman and Nicobar Islands (1), Mizoram (1), Nagaland (1), Puducherry (1), Sikkim (1) and Lakshadweep (1).
