Babu Jajiban Ram and Ram Vilas Paswan hold the record of winning the most number of times from the same constituency in the Lok Sabha elections held so far in Bihar. Both won 8-8 times from the same area. Jagjivan Ram became the winner from Sasaram seat 8 times while Ram Vilas Paswan won the same number of times from Hajipur. Jagjivan Ram won Lok Sabha elections from Sasaram Lok Sabha constituency in 1952, 1957, 1962, 1967, 1971, 1977, 1980, 1984. Out of these, he became member 6 times from Congress and 2 times from Janata Party.

The Janata Party elected Jajivan Babu as Prime Minister in the 1980 elections.
