London: The corona vaccine has side effects, as the vaccine production company ‘Astrozenka’ admitted in court. Administering the vaccine may cause a rare blood clotting problem in humans, the agency admitted. In a document submitted to the UK court last February, AstroZeneca said that the covid vaccine it developed poses a risk of developing the rare disease thrombosis with thrombocytopenia syndrome (TTS). When affected by this disease, the amount of platelets in the blood decreases and the blood clots.
The company developed this vaccine in collaboration with researchers from the University of Oxford. Apart from Kovishield, the company also launched a vaccine called Vaxgeria. However, Covishield is more commonly used in India. This is not the first time. A side effect of the CoviShield vaccine appeared earlier, known medically as vaccine-induced immune thrombocytopenia (VITT).
