According to reports, the landslide occurred due to the incessant rains, prompting the Dibang Valley District Deputy Commissioner to issue an advisory on Wednesday night.

The advisory urged people to avoid using the road until restoration and normal rainfall patterns resume.

The restoration work is expected to last at least three days, according to reports.

The connectivity disruption is expected to significantly affect the region, located in the most northeastern corner of Arunachal Pradesh, which shares a border with China to the north.

Expressing concern over the inconvenience caused to passengers, Prime Minister Pema Khandu took to social media platform X to ensure swift action. he stated, "Disturbed to learn of the inconvenience caused to commuters due to the extensive damage to the highway between Honley and Anini. Instructions have been issued to restore connectivity at the earliest as this road connects the Dibang Valley to the rest of the country."
