A 33-year-old man has been charged with second-degree murder in connection with the death of a woman in her 70s in Monmagny, in the Chaudière-Appalaches region of Quebec.
The Sûreté du Québec (SQ) reported that Eric Cantin appeared in court on Thursday evening. He may return to court on Friday.
Kantin was arrested earlier today following the discovery by the police of the body of a 78-year-old woman in a residence on Collin Avenue in the morning.
The relationship between the suspect, a resident of Monmagny, and the victim was not specified by the SQ.
The investigation continued Thursday evening.
The mobile unit of the Forensic Sciences and Forensic Medicine Laboratory of the Israel Defense Forces was called to the scene for a crime scene analysis.
