Canada welcomes people associated with organized crime: Jaishankar

Foreign Minister S Jaishankar criticized the Canadian government led by Justin Trudeau for giving space and legitimacy to supporters of extremism, separatism and violence in the name of freedom of expression, because despite warnings from New Delhi, Canada does not grant visas to such people. Issuance of those who have ties to organized crime.

With the rise of pro-Khalistan activism in Canada and the arrest of three Indians for their alleged involvement in the killing of terrorist Hardeep Singh, Jaishankar said, in some countries such people have organized themselves politically and become political lobbies. Politicians in some of these democracies are led to believe that if they respect or support these people, they can get them the support of a community. At this point, it’s not that big of a problem in America. Our biggest problem right now is Canada. Because the party in power in Canada and other parties have given a certain legitimacy to those who advocate this kind of extremism, separatism and violence in the name of freedom of expression. When you tell them something, their response is, no, we are a democratic country, but the point is that they need to understand that the world will no longer be one-way. If something like this happens there, there will be resistance. Newton’s law of politics will apply there too. Others will step in or resist.
