A woman accused by fraud victims of crossing the US claiming to be an Irish heiress is expected to learn next month whether she will be extradited to Britain.

Marian Smith, a 54-year-old American, will appear in federal court in Maine for a hearing related to allegations that she stole more than $170,000 from at least five victims between 2008 and 2010 in Northern Ireland. UK officials said Smith stole money she promised to invest and arranged to sell the victim a house but took the money.
