A boy died by drowning while bathing in a pool in Shahfura Achi-News

The city reporter said a 12-year-old girl died due to drowning while bathing in a pond located in the village of Gagaur under the Shahpura Kurma police station area. The deceased has been identified as Sonali Kumari, the only daughter of Mithilesh Kwat, a resident of Gagaur. Late Sonali was the eldest of three siblings. As soon as the news of the incident spread, a crowd of hundreds of the villagers gathered. The deceased’s mother and other family members, who arrived at the scene, became inconsolable and began to cry. After the incident there is mourning in the whole village. On receiving the information, Superintendent of Police Kurma Ayush Kumar arrived, seized the body of the deceased and sent it for post-mortem at Sadar Hospital. Regarding the incident, the villagers said that on the last day of Chaiti Chahat, the deceased’s family members came to the ghat of a pond in the village to offer Arjiya to the rising sun. Sonali also came with them to Chahat Ghat. After finishing Chhath’s Argh, Sonali started bathing alone in the pool full of water. During that time she drowned due to her foot slipping in deep water. The villagers said that the depth of the pool is about 12 to 15 feet. Later, after the villagers were informed about the incident, the divers deployed by the district administration retrieved the body of the deceased from the pool after about an hour of tireless efforts.
