Most regions of the country are dealing with the heat. The maximum temperature on Monday was 45 degrees Celsius. The extreme heat puts pressure on the power grids. Government agencies have issued health warnings. Classes up to 8th grade were closed in Jharkhand. The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has predicted extreme heat in eastern India till May 1 and in the southern regions for the next five days.
Red and orange alert for these areas
IMD has warned Andhra Pradesh for the next two-three days. A red alert has been issued in some parts of Bihar, West Bengal and Odisha due to fear of extreme heat. At the same time, an orange alert has been issued for some parts of Telangana, Karnataka and Sikkim. Apart from this, a heatwave alert has been issued in parts of West Bengal, Gujarat, Bihar, Sikkim, Odisha, Jharkhand, Kerala and Andhra Pradesh. The department said humidity may increase in Assam, Tripura, Gujarat, Tamil Nadu, Puducherry, Goa, Kerala and Karnataka in the next five days.

On Monday, the temperature in Kalaikonda and Kandala was 45.4 degrees Celsius (8.6 degrees above normal), Nandyal in Andhra Pradesh recorded 45 degrees Celsius, Shahpura in Bihar recorded 45.8 degrees Celsius and Aripada in Odisha recorded 44.8 degrees Celsius.
