Kairana (International Desk) Iqra Hasan, who studied from the London School of Oriental and African Studies, has been fielded by the Samajwadi Party against Pradeep Choudhary, the BJP MP who controls Kairana in western Uttar Pradesh. This is the hot seat.
Iqra Hasan belongs to a pure political family. Events like the Muzaffarnagar Muslim riots in 2013 and the displacement of Hindu families have given new dimensions to this election frenzy.

Iqra Hasan, aged 27, is the daughter of Manoor Hasan and Tabasim Hasan. Both have been members of the Lok Sabha from Kairana. Iqra’s grandfather Akhtar Hasan was also elected to the Lok Sabha from Kairana in the 1980s. Iqra’s elder brother, Naheed Hassan, has also been elected three times as a member of the state assembly from this district.
Iqra Hasan entered politics when brother and mother Tabsum Jafri were named by the Uttar Pradesh Police in various cases. Naheed Hasan had contested the UP Assembly elections in 2021 from prison. He had defeated Hukm Singh’s daughter. Then the confession came out.
The Kairana region has been a political and electoral battleground between the Hasan and Singh families. This time, no one from Hukm Singh’s family has entered the electoral arena.
