The Supreme Court will hear the petition after two weeks, in which a demand was made to cancel the prohibition order issued on the basis of elections under Section 144 of the CRPC. The Supreme Court agreed to hear this case. The committee of judges B.R. Gabbai and Sandeep Mehta even ordered that the competent authority will decide within three days on the applications that will be submitted seeking permission to organize tours or meetings for the purpose of educating people about the elections.

Social workers filed a petition

We will tell you that this petition was submitted to the court by the social workers Aruna Roy and Nikhil Dey. It sought to ban the practice of judges and state governments to ban meetings, gatherings, processions or dharnas under Section 144 of the CRPC. Attorney Prashant Bashoshan, who appears in court on behalf of the petitioners, said that in the last six months, the Election Commission issued comprehensive orders regarding Article 144 for the period from the date of the announcement of the elections until the end of the elections. According to him, in view of such orders, all types of gatherings, meetings and demonstrations are prohibited during the election period. The committee corrected the discussion of the case after two weeks.
