On Thursday, the CBI submitted the progress report of the investigation in the Calcutta High Court in the Sandashkali case. After seeing the report, the judge said, the CBI investigation is progressing in the right direction. The report alleged non-cooperation on the part of the state regarding the land records. The court was instructed to cooperate with the state.
The court also stated that the state did not provide any information regarding the installation of closed circuit light bulbs and LED bulbs. In the event of contempt in this case, the court warned against taking appropriate action against the state. The Chief Justice said, since there is no stay order of the Supreme Court in the case, the order of the Calcutta High Court should be followed. The court also allowed the National Human Rights Commission to join the case.
Advocate Priyanka Tiberwal alleged in the court that women are threatened so that FIRs are not registered in CBI in rape cases. Seeing this complaint of the lawyer, the Supreme Bench said that CBI should take steps to increase confidence in the minds of people. CBI Security should also be taken care of. To remove the fear from women, CBI will also appoint women officers if necessary.
The division bench of the Chief Justice instructed the state to transfer the documents to the Malah within a week if the Malah requests documents from the state. The next hearing in the case will be held on June 13. The Chief Justice said, the state did not provide any report on whether or not closed circuit lights and LED lights were installed. So it is assumed that the state has not complied with this instruction and if the state does not do so then the Calcutta High Court can take appropriate steps on the charge of contempt of court. The state should make arrangements to install CCTV and LED lights as soon as possible.
