Pankaj Singta/Shimla: After the independence of the country on August 15, 1947, many kings left their kingdoms and included their states in independent India. In this series, the kings of the 30 princely states of the hill states left their kingdom and joined independent India. On 15 April 1948, 30 princely states of the hill region joined independent India and Himachal Pradesh was formed. India became a republic on 26 January 1950 and Himachal Pradesh became a “C” category state. Since then till date, Himachal Pradesh is continuously progressing on the path of development.

The Governor of Himachal Pradesh, Shiv Pratap Shukla, said that on April 15, 1948, 30 princely states were united into independent India. Himachal Pradesh was formed. April 15 is celebrated every year as Himachal Day. The 77th Himachal Day was celebrated on 15 April 2024. 76 years have passed since the formation of Himachal Pradesh. The rich culture of Himachal Pradesh is its heritage and identity.

The first Chief Minister of Himachal Pradesh, Dr. Yashwant Singh Farmer is also called the Creator of Himachal. Dr. Farmer contributed immensely in the development of Himachal. Yashwant Singh Parmar was a part of Praja Mandals before the independence of India. During the British rule, Praja Mandal was a public organization that raised its voice against the monarchy. The Parjamandals believed that the monarchy should be abolished and a structure of a democratic system established. Being a part of Prajmandal, Dr. Yashwant Singh Paramar was also condemned by the King of Sirmore State to leave the borders of the State.
