The federal government has announced an investigation into the matter of the judges’ letter.
Chief Law Minister Nazir Tarar while holding a press conference in Islamabad said that the Prime Minister said that the independence of the judiciary will not be compromised, an inquiry will be conducted under the leadership of a retired judge of good repute.
Azam Nazir Tarar said that it was the letter that became popular in the media and social media. It is the duty of the government to investigate this matter, the Prime Minister will place this matter in the cabinet tomorrow.
He further said that a commission will be formed under the Commission of Inquiry Act, the names of retired judges of the Supreme Court will be considered, the Prime Minister said that it will be informed in the next two to four days.
The Law Minister said that the Prime Minister had said that he would go and meet the Chief Justice despite all his busy schedule. The meeting between the Chief Justice and the Prime Minister continued for an hour and a half, the Chief Justice and the highest judge, Justice Mansoor Ali Shah, were present in the meeting.
He also said that the Prime Minister of the UK has said that I will hold the necessary discussions with the Chief Justice.
Azam Nazir Tarar said we leave it to the judiciary whether the judges letter is misconduct or not, the TORs will also include this letter and past cases, I think when such cases arise, we should be stopped, all cases. the commissions we have formed have been bringing all the things out, history decides who is wrong and who is not.
The law minister further said that one of the retired senior judges will be asked to head the commission and the prime minister is determined that the country should run according to the constitution.
