British High Commissioner Jane Marriott met President Asif Ali Zardari at the President’s House in Islamabad.
On this occasion, the President emphasized the need to further strengthen Pakistan-UK trade and economic relations.
The President and the British High Commissioner also discussed issues of mutual importance.
During the conversation, President Asif Zardari said that there is a friendly relationship between Pakistan and the United Kingdom, Pakistan-UK relations have been strengthened by high-level contacts and public relations.
He said the stability of the economy is the first priority. Emphasis is placed on creating employment opportunities and eradicating poverty.
The President said that climate change is a serious challenge for Pakistan. Pakistan is among the two or four countries most vulnerable to climate change. Pakistan has huge potential for solar and wind energy.
He expressed his best wishes to King Charles III and Princess of Wales Catherine Middleton.
High Commissioner Jean Marriott congratulated him on assuming the post of President of Pakistan.
