Tata Electronics will now manufacture semiconductor chips for all Tesla cars. The American electric vehicle manufacturer Tesla signed a strategic deal with Tata for this purpose. According to the Economic Times report, under this deal, Tata Electronics will manufacture chips for Tesla’s global supply.
This deal was made at a time when Tesla owner Elon Musk is about to arrive in India. Musk will also meet Prime Minister Narendra Modi. Reuters news agency quoted sources as saying that Musk may arrive in India between April 22 and 27.
During this period, Tesla owners can announce the establishment of a car manufacturing plant in India. Musk wrote in post X – Looking forward to meeting Prime Minister Modi. This will be his first visit to India. Before that, Musk met Prime Minister Modi twice.
Tesla wants to build a factory to manufacture cars and store batteries
- On April 3, the British Financial Times reported that Tesla will send a team to India this month to look for a location for a $2 to $3 billion ($16,000 to $25,000) electric car manufacturing plant in the country. .
- The report said that the focus of the team at the electric car manufacturing plant will be on auto hub states like Maharashtra, Gujarat and Tamil Nadu. This is because of the ports of these states, from where exporting cars will be easy.
- Tesla wants to manufacture and sell battery storage systems along with electric cars in India. The company gave a proposal to the Indian authorities for this.
Musk will invest 2-3 billion dollars in India
CNBC-TV18 reported that Elon Musk will announce plans to invest $2-3 billion in India. Tesla not only wants to make cars for India, but also wants to export them from here to the global market.
Apart from this, Musk can also start satellite based broadband services in India soon. CNBC-TV18 reported that the regulatory approvals for Starlink are in the final stage and the company is expected to receive the license soon.
The government’s new EV policy makes it easier for Tesla to enter
A month ago the Indian government changed the EV policy. According to the new policy, the import duty on the import of some models was reduced from 100% to 15%. For this, the investors will have to invest at least 50 million dollars (about 4,172 million dollars). With this new government policy, entry into India has become easier for American businessman Elon Musk’s EV company Tesla, which has been looking for a way to enter India for a long time.
Tesla currently has four electric cars
Currently, four Tesla electric cars are sold in the US market. These include the Model S, Model 3, Model X and Model Y. Of these, the true all-wheel drive version of the Model 3 is the cheapest. Its price in America is $38,990 (about Rs. 32.48 lakh).
