DUBAI: As the weather in the United Arab Emirates (UAE) turns severe with heavy rain across the gulf nation’s cities, Dubai residents have been asked to stay at home and observe a working and studying day remotely today.

The development comes as the emirate responds to challenging weather challenges in the metropolitan following directives issued by the Crown Prince of Dubai and Chairman of the Dubai Executive Council Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum.

The crown prince has ordered all government entities and private schools in Dubai to observe Tuesday as a remote working day, as the government aims to ensure the safety of its workers and citizens amid possible severe weather.

As thunderstorms are forecast across the UAE, schools across the country will be closed on Tuesday, with students attending online classes at home. Government employees in other emirates are also expected to work remotely.

Residents are advised to be careful during the dangerous weather, with strong winds of up to 70kph predicted until Wednesday, while motorists have been urged to avoid unnecessary travel.

Authorities have also called on companies in the private sector to consider remote working arrangements for employees and ensure their safety during the weather variations.

Moreover, private schools in Dubai will conduct distance learning sessions following Sheikh Hamdan’s directive.

“All Dubai Government entities and private schools to work remotely on Tuesday, April 16,” said the Crown Prince of Dubai, highlighting the importance of proactive measures to protect public health and safety.

Dubai authorities have confirmed their readiness to manage any potential impact of the expected weather. Preventive measures are in place to monitor weather patterns and ensure public safety.

Overall, Dubai aims to demonstrate resilience and adaptability in the face of challenges, prioritizing the well-being of its residents and visitors above all else.
