KARACHI: In a major step ahead of privatisation, Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) management on Saturday issued tenders for the sale of spare parts for some of its aircraft.
are pleased to invite sealed tenders for an inventory of the surplus B707, B737, CESSNA and FOKKER parts listed in Exhibit A. Bidders may submit their bids for one lot or all lots but will bid separately for every lot. Proposals must be made on a separate prescribed form (Exhibit B).
Sources connected with the development said that the move was taken to dispose of spare parts of PIA aircraft which have been kept in stores for years.

PIA has invited applications for tenders till April 29.
Earlier, sources said that three Gulf countries, including the UAE, Saudi Arabia and Qatar, have shown interest in buying Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) as the government accelerates its privatization plan.
Sources familiar with the matter said that companies from the three countries have approached the government of Pakistan to negotiate an agreement for PIA.
Pakistan has also briefed the authorities of the three Gulf countries regarding the national flag carrier.
