Election campaign in Pakistan

Islamabad: This year general election may be held in October in Pakistan. Pakistan’s Election Commission is gearing up to hold elections in October, according to reports in the country’s media on Thursday. Then the general election will be held in Pakistan one year before the specified time. The last general election in Pakistan was held in July 2018. The National Parliament is supposed to be valid till October 2023. Imran Khan’s Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) won that election. After that Imran Khan became the Prime Minister of that country. But he lost his majority in parliament in April this year. He also had to leave the post of Prime Minister. All in all, there is political unrest in Pakistan’s politics. In that situation, elections are going to be held in Pakistan a year before the specified time.

Pakistan’s The Express Tribune reported, citing sources, that the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) has already completed the re-arrangement of polling stations. The sources of the commission said that the work of reorganizing the various seats of the national and the provinces has been completed. Earlier, the commission told the Supreme Court that this work will be completed by August 4. It has been informed that the revised voter list will also be published by the commission within the month of August.

After the ouster of Imran Khan, there is a coalition government of several political parties. The coalition government said last week that the general election will be held next year as scheduled. President of Pakistan Democratizing Movement (PDM) Maulana Falzur Rahman said, “The general elections will be held on time. This government will also finish its term.”

Although PTI chief Imran Khan has been claiming since the beginning, general elections are the only way to end the political unrest that has created in the country. Pakistan Awami Muslim League (AML) chief Sheikh Rashid also last week called for general elections to be held in October this year. After this, speculations of general election in October reached peak in Pakistan.
