The 31-year-old explained that he had been living with his girlfriend for about six months.
The two had a row over home renovation tensions, where she accused him of wasting money on his DIY project.
Weeks before the fight, he ordered $200 worth of wagyu steaks, which arrived the night before their fight.
“It was really stupid, she disagreed with me on a project I was working on involving the garage, and despite the fact that I own the house we live in, she kept trying to claim authority over the decisions I made,” he wrote. .
“Then she brought up the wagyu steak as proof that I wasted money on the project and expensive food.
“I decided we’d have them for dinner on Friday night. My girlfriend seemed generally disinterested as she’s not a steak person, but she said she’d enjoy them with me.”
On Friday, he explained that he went to work in a rare sour mood, but texted his girlfriend this afternoon and asked to talk when he got home.
“She didn’t answer. I left work around 5:30, expecting steaks,” he said.
“But when I walked in the door, there was this horrible smell of smoke. My girlfriend greeted me, grabbed my hand and led me to the table. She said ‘dinner is served’.”
What he saw at the dinner table left him reeling.
“The steaks were completely black. Completely inedible. Eating them would have been a health hazard,” he said.
“I asked what the hell she was thinking, and she gasped in the theater with her hand over her mouth, then said ‘Huh? Me?’

He redoubled his attempt to call her out on her lie.

In a rage, he canceled invitations to his girlfriend’s birthday dinner with her parents, which was supposed to take place a few days later, on Sunday.
“I just told her I was canceling the order,” he said.
“She immediately turned around and told me her parents were going to be very angry, but I didn’t care.
“She grabbed the steaks and threw them in the garbage (where they were going to go anyway) and then stormed off.”
