Lok Sabha Elections 2024: Second Phase Peaks 60.96% Voter Turnout Achi-News

Guwahati: The second phase of the 2024 general elections on April 26 recorded about 60.96% voter turnout in 88 parliamentary constituencies (PC) as of 7:00 pm. Voters from 13 states and union territories (UTs) participated enthusiastically, braving hot weather conditions to vote. This phase marks the completion of voting in 14 states/UTs for the 2024 general elections.

A webcast was conducted in over 1 lakh polling stations. Special arrangements were made to combat the heat, including the provision of shamiana (canopies), drinking water, medical kits and ventilators.

In some constituencies, such as Banka, Madpura, Khagaria and Munger in Bihar, the voting time has been extended till 6 pm to accommodate voters in heat. Voters from 46 villages in the Bastar and Kankar parliamentary constituencies in Chhattisgarh had an opportunity to vote in polling booths set up in their villages for the first time in the Lok Sabha elections.
