Ottawa (May 04): Canadian police on Friday arrested three Indian nationals in connection with the killing of Khalistani separatist Hardeep Singh Nijjar. This information is given in media reports. Police believe the detainees are members of an alleged group tasked with killing Nijjas by the Indian government last year.

In September last year, Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau had accused Indian agents of involvement in the killing of Nijjar. After this there was tension in the relationship between India and Canada. India dismissed Trudeau’s claims as ‘absurd’ and ‘provocative’. Police arrested the men on Friday in a search operation in at least two Canadian provinces, according to news reports. Sources said that the police had identified this group of people who were involved in Nijjar’s killing a few months ago and that the police had been keeping an eye on them.

The accused had come on a student visa

According to sources, the suspect had entered Canada on a student visa, but may have acted on the instructions of Indian intelligence when he shot Nijjar.
