Ranchi: In the midst of Lok Sabha Election, important developments are happening in the field of Jharkhand Politics. The former Chief Minister of the state, Hemant Soren’s wife, Kalpana Soren, is entering the world of politics. He was leading politics behind the scenes until now and now he is making his debut in official politics. The Gande Assembly Constituency of Jharkhand has been vacated and the voting for this assembly constituency will be held on May 20. So the ruling JMM has announced the name of Kalpana Soren as its candidate. Through this, Kalpana gives entry to politics through by-election.
By-election on May 20
MLA from Gande Constituency Sarparaj Ahmed has resigned from his post as MLA. This post is vacant from 31 December, 2023. So the Election Commission has issued a notification for the by-election. Kalpana Soren contested from JMM while Dilip Kumar Verma contested from BJP. Voting in the by-election will take place here on May 20.

What did JMM say?
The final list of Jharkhand Mukti Morcha candidates for the 2024 Lok Sabha General Election and the 2024 Gande Assembly by-election has been released. Sameer Mohanty will contest from Jamshedpur Lok Sabha constituency. Kalpana Soren has been made a candidate from Gande Assembly constituency.
Even before the name was announced, Kalpana Soren Gande had started preparing for the seat. This place comes under Giridih district in Jharkhand. Kalpana recently held a convention of JMM workers there.
The name was heard in the CM race
Even before the arrest of Hemant Soren, Kalpana Soren’s name was heard in Jharkhand politics. When Hemant Soren was arrested by the ED, he had called a meeting of party leaders at his home. Kalpana Soren also participated in that meeting. After the arrest of Hemant Soren, when the discussion started about who will be the new CM, Kalpana Soren’s name came up in the race. After much thought, it was decided that Kalpana should not be the CM for now. Then Champai Soren, who was famous as ‘Jharkhand Tiger’, was chosen as the CM of the state.
The ED officials have arrested Hemant Soren in a money laundering case. He is currently in prison. He had resigned as prime minister while going to jail.
