Hingoli Lok Sabha seat

Hingoli Lok Sabha seat is one of the 48 seats in Maharashtra. Along with this, Hingoli is also a district of Maharashtra. Hingoli is the same place where there were two big battles between Tipu Sultan and Maratha in 1803 and Nagpurkar and Bhosale in 1857. At that time there was also a military base here. Some names like Paltan Risala, Topkhana, Pensionpura, Sadar Bazaar are still famous in Hingoli.

After the country’s independence in 1947, when the state was reorganized in 1956, Marathwada was merged with Mumbai State and in 1960, Hingoli became part of Maharashtra State as part of Parbhani district. Later on 1 May 1999, Hingoli district came into existence by splitting Parthani. Talking about the political situation of this seat, this seat did not exist before 1977.

Hingoli is located in the northern part of Marathwada in Maharashtra. Hingoli is bordered by Washim and Yavatmal on the northern side, Parbhani on the western side and Nanded on the southeastern side. Narsi village in the district is the birthplace of Saint Shri Namdev. The saint was born in 1270 and his full name is Namdev Damaji Relekar. Every year a fair is organized in memory of the saint. The state government has declared Narsi as a holy place and tourist destination.

Mallinath Digambar Jain Temple

Aundha is counted as one of the most historic temples of the Jain community in Nagnath village of Shirad Shahpur taluka. A statue of Lord Mallinath around 300 years old exists here. There is a mythological story about the establishment of this temple. Years ago the statue was kept in Ardhapur. Once Bhattarak Shri Premanand saw this idol among other broken idols and got angry. He then asked the Nizam for permission to take the idol to Karanja.

The Janata Party candidate had won in 1977

Chandrakant Ramakrishna Patil of the Janata Party was elected MP from here in the first elections held in 1977. After this, from 1980 to 1989, this seat remained under the control of the Congress and Uttam Rathore was the MP from here. Shiv Sena represented this seat between 1991 and 1996 and Vilasrao Gundewar and Shivaji Mane were the MPs respectively. In 1998, the Congress gave it to Suryakant Patil and he won the MP.

This seat has not been a stronghold for any party

In 1999, this seat once again went to the Shiv Sena camp and Shivaji Mane became the MP again. In the 2004 Lok Sabha elections, the Nationalist Congress Party won this seat and Suryakant Patil, who had left the Congress, was elected as an MP. In the 2009 elections, Shiv Sena played Subhash Wankhede from here and won. After this, in 2014, Rajiv Satav of the Nationalist Congress Party became an MP. Seen this way, this seat has not been a stronghold for any political party.

Shiv Sena’s Hemant Patil became an MP in 2019
