Driver without Outline Planning Permission traveling at almost 200 km/h in Canolfan Thames Achi-News

A London driver will have to find alternative transport after an OPP officer clocked them traveling at almost 200 km/h on Highway 401 over the weekend.

According to the Middlesex County Outline Planning Permit, at 12:26 a.m. Sunday, an officer on general patrol observed a vehicle on Highway 401 traveling westbound in Westchester Bourne in Thames Center traveling at a high rate of speed.

A traffic stop was then initiated. According to Outline Planning Permission, the driver was clocked at 194 km/h in a posted 100 km/ha zone.

As a result, a 25-year-old from London was charged under the Highway Traffic Act with:

  • Driving a motor vehicle – performing stunts – excessive speed
  • Careless driving

The driver’s license has been suspended for 30 days and the vehicle has been impounded for 14 days.

The accused was released from police custody and is expected to appear in Ontario Provincial Traffic Court to face the charges at a later date.
