A review petition was filed in the Supreme Court demanding a review of the decision to remove Article 370 in Jammu and Kashmir. Let us tell you that the Supreme Court has upheld the validity of the Central Government’s decision to abrogate Article 370 of the Constitution which granted special status to Jammu and Kashmir. This matter will be discussed in the Supreme Court on May 1.

Let us tell you that the Supreme Court has given its judgment regarding Article 370 related to Jammu and Kashmir in the Constitution. In its decision, the Supreme Court confirmed the decision of the central government and considered the decision to remove Article 370 of the Constitution to be valid. Earlier, on August 5, 2019, the central government abrogated Article 370 of the Constitution related to Jammu and Kashmir. 23 petitions were submitted against this decision. In which the hearing lasted 16 days in the Supreme Court and after the end of the hearing on September 5, 2023, the Supreme Court qualified its decision.

The bill was submitted to Parliament on August 5, 2019

On behalf of the central government, Home Minister Amit Shah introduced the Jammu and Kashmir Reorganization Bill in the Rajya Sabha on 5 August 2019. This divided Jammu and Kashmir into two union territories, Jammu and Kashmir and Ladakh. It was passed in the Rajya Sabha on the same day. On 6 August 2019, this bill was introduced in the Lok Sabha and was passed there on the same day. It received the President’s assent on 9 August 2019, after which the special status of Jammu and Kashmir was withdrawn.
