Central government employees were shocked by this decision. The Ministry of Health did not even consider it necessary to take the advice of the central workers’ organizations and the Standing Committee of the National Staff Side Council (JCM) before taking such a decision. However, in the meantime, a health ministry official informed the workers’ organization representative that there is no requirement to link the CGHS ID card with the Ayushman Bharat Health Account (ABHA) of the Government of India. This decision will remain as an option.

According to Sreekumar, this is a well thought out step by the Indian government. In such a situation, Shrikumar asked the health ministry to withdraw the ministry’s memorandum issued on March 28, which said to link the CGHS ID card to the Ayushman Bharat Health Account of the Government of India. A meeting of the Standing Committee of the National Team Side Council (JCM) should also be called in this regard. All aspects of the employees must be heard in it.
