Chief of Defense Staff (CDS) General Anil Chauhan said on Thursday that the day is not far when India will emerge as one of the largest service providers in the world.
Addressing the three-day Indian Defense Seminar 2024 in Delhi on Thursday, General Chauhan said the space could be called the last step. Not only that, he said, “India is taking space-related information from others. However, now I believe the day is not far when India will provide information to other countries.
During this, General Chouhan also emphasized the role of space development in the future. He said, ‘I will tell where we are and where we should go.’

Apart from that he said, ‘Space is called the last step. Space is also known as an escape from the war zone. I believe there is already an established battlefield. My confidence is based on the developments taking place in this particular area. The history of war has taught us that in any war, the initial competition usually takes place in a new area. The new domain also affects battles in the old domain. Humanity has a long way to go to unravel the mystery of space. India wants to be a part of this journey.
He said that space is already an established area of ​​warfare and will have an impact on the air, sea and land domains. Furthermore, the CDS said that today the activities in space are controlled from the ground. That’s why it’s an interesting area. He also told about the four astronauts who were trained under India’s Gaganyaan program.
Space diplomacy will soon become a reality
While describing space as a ‘global partnership’, he said there can be no concept of sovereignty in space. The CDS also said that space diplomacy will soon become a reality. Friendly countries do not need to be neighbors to improve cooperation in space. According to him, distances and geopolitical divisions can be beneficial in cooperation in the defense space.
Promising startups in the field of space
During this, General Chouhan said that what was unimaginable till a few years ago, is happening now. The country has promising startups in the defense and space sectors. According to him, “We have many promising startups doing great work in the field of defense and space, which could not be imagined even a few years ago. I can see that there is enough room for everyone to grow. I want all the startups in the space sector to become unicorns and then grow as global players in the coming times.” .
He also said that various services and the Ministry of Defense should work closely with the Indian space industry to identify the facilities that will be required to test and validate the products.
He said, ‘I request DRDO to engage deeply with the startup community in partnership with the Indian space industry. So that it is possible to develop modern solutions that will help bridge our technological gap.
