Balurghat: Mrinal Sarkar, former Trinamool district president, posted such a suggestive post on Facebook as ‘Jat Dosh Nanda Ghosh’, the party did not call for any planning or preparation for the election. His comments have already created a storm in political circles.

Followers of candidates for parliamentary positions were accommodated from the organisation. Biplab Mitra opposition group leaders are not worried about the party since they became candidates. They claim that ‘Team Biplab’, which consists of supporters and not grassroots workers, failed to pass the election. With this an atmosphere of extreme mistrust has been created among grassroots workers in the area. Reportedly, a Facebook war broke out between the leaders and the workers who could not breathe this atmosphere of distrust within the party. Meanwhile, Mrinal Sarkar has made a post on Facebook. It shows the text on the chest of a T-shirt, ‘Yat Dosh Nanda Ghosh’. Which started the debate. Regarding this job, Mrinal Sarkar said, ‘I am not called to any election planning or party preparation. So I work in my own booth.’

However, Trinamool leaders are not willing to accept the ‘team revolution’ theory. Ashok Mitra, an important leader of the district committee and election committee known as Biplab followers and mayor of Balurghat Municipality, said, ‘There is no such thing as Team Biplab in our party. We all belong to Team Mamata, Team Trinamool. Everyone who makes up this party has jumped into the campaign for our party’s candidate. There is no problem anywhere.’

Biplab Mitra is known as a star in Trinamool politics in South Dinajpur district. When Mamata Banerjee formed the Trinamool in 1998, Biplab Babu was one of the state general secretaries. He became an MLA for the first time in 2011. He is the minister of the state since 2021. Since the birth of Trinamool Congress, he has been the district president for almost 18 years in two terms. Arpita Ghosh was appointed to replace such a heavy leader in the Lok Sabha elections 2014. She won. But the followers of the revolution started a strong fight saying that Bhumiputra should be nominated before the next Lok Sabha elections in 2019.

He was sacked after being accused of losing MP Arpita Ghosh in the 2019 Lok Sabha elections. He later joined the BJP out of pride. However, in 2020, he returned to Trinamool and got the post of district chairman of the party, later became a minister. Not only that, at present Trinamool district committee, three level panchayat has increased the dominance of revolution followers. In the electoral committee that was made recently, priority was given to the followers of the revolution. The opposition has become almost irrelevant. In this situation, many leaders and activists in the area are unable to fix their situation, many are silent.
