Mumbai. Oscar and Grammy winning composer AR Rehman created a stir in Mumbai with his performance with playback singer Kailash Kher. Rehman attended the film’s trailer launch at Mehboob Studios in Mumbai’s Bandra area on Thursday.
He was also accompanied by director Imtiaz Ali, global star Diljit Dosanjh and actress Parineeti Chopra. Rehman and Imtiaz are collaborating through this film after nine years. They had earlier worked together in the cult classic ‘Tamasha’.
After the team interacted with the media, Rehman came on stage with Kailash and singer Yashika Sikka and performed the song ‘Bol Mohabbat Seene La, Rabba Rabba Seene La’. Rehman spoke to the media along with Imtiaz, Parineeti and Diljit, later Kailash and Yashika joined him on stage to perform.
The film gives a rural glimpse from the interior of Punjab. The film is based on Punjabi singer Amar Singh Chamkila, whom Imtiaz said was a man of the people and used to talk to people. Chamkila is considered one of the best live stage artists of Punjab and is extremely popular among rural audiences. Chamkila is generally considered one of the greatest and most influential Punjabi artists. ‘Amar Singh Chamkila’ is set to release on Netflix on April 12.
