It was revealed that the private sector was favored in the import of wheat in the country and a loss of one billion dollars to the national treasury was revealed due to wrong decisions.
According to the information obtained by ARY news from the sources, it was revealed that the private sector was given preference in importing wheat in Pakistan and due to these wrong decisions, the national treasury lost a billion dollars.
According to the sources, the National Food Security sought permission to import 35 lakh 87 thousand tonnes of wheat despite the abundance of wheat and ECC gave official permission to import wheat to the private sector.
Sources say that the National Food Security has earlier prepared a summary of the import of one million tons of wheat.
However, the government had 4.3 million tonnes of wheat by April 1, 2024 and there was no need to import wheat due to the arrival of the new wheat crop in Sindh in March.
