Important meetings are being held during the visit of the Minister of Finance Muhammad Aurangzeb to America, he met the Assistant Secretary of State of the United States Donald Lowe and the Principal Deputy Assistant Secretary Miss Elizabeth Horst.
Regarding these meetings, a statement has been issued by the Ministry of Finance, and accordingly, the political decision to strengthen Pakistan-US relations was highlighted in the meetings.
According to the statement, during the meetings, emphasis was placed on alternative energy sources, agriculture, resilience against climate change and a special focus on the technology industry.
The Finance Ministry statement said the meeting also emphasized upgrading the mutual economic partnership.
The statement said Finance Minister Muhammad Aurangzeb briefed US officials on Pakistan’s reform agenda, which includes expanding the tax base.
The Ministry of Finance said in a statement that US officials were told that speeding up the privatization of public institutions was also part of the reform agenda.
In a statement, the Finance Ministry said Finance Minister Muhammad Aurangzeb has identified opportunities for US investment in IT, agriculture and mining.
According to the statement, Finance Minister Muhammad Aurangzeb said that Pakistan will work with the US International Development Finance Corporation and EXIM Bank.
