Ancients raise 11th century Jain idols found in Mysuru village – News18 Kannada Achi-News

11th century Jain sculptures discovered!

Two broken Jain statues dating back to the 11th century were found during drain excavation in Varuna village, Mysore taluk recently. An earthmoving machine was used to dig the drain. After this, when digging the ground, there was a loud noise. The workers immediately stopped their work and saw what happened. After seeing the damaged statue, he immediately stopped the work and alerted the archeology department.

A team comprising Ancient History Professor Rangaraj, Deputy Director of Archeology Department Manjula Shasidhar, Dharmasthala representative Prasannakumar, Mysore resident Vinod Jain visited the place and took the statue to the archaeological museum. Varuna, Vajamangala, Talakadu, Hemmige, Mooguru and T Narasipura are Jain centers and there are many sculptures in the region, said Rangraj.

CM Siddaramaiah informed about this too!

He said the government should announce an excavation plan to shed more light on the statue. He said that there is ample opportunity for excavation and Chief Minister Siddaramaiah who represents Varuna constituency will also be informed about this. Rangraj said this will help preserve the history and preserve the sculptures for future generations.
