Found the idol of Adi Sesha!
A 10th or 11th century rock inscription, an idol of Naga Vira and another idol of Adi Sesha were found at Obula Keshwapur in Jangaon district of Telangana. This statue is also known as Adi Seshu, Vasuki, Ananta Seshu.
Locals believe that the five-foot Adi Sesha idol on the bank of the tank called Gangamma is their protector. They also believe that Adi Sesha is the god of fertility. However, this idol is said to be of Adi Sesha, the king of serpents.
A seven-headed snake idol!
The idol has the canopy of a seven-headed serpent, sword and shield, and a lion emblem can be seen on a decoration around the centre. On the right is his wife Shirsha and on the left is his daughter Sulochana.
An idol built by the Chalukyas!
The Jangaon region consists of many hills, steep soils with small streams. For this reason it is an ideal place for peacocks and snakes. The Chalukyas could probably have erected a statue of Adi Sesha, the king of snakes, here to tell them not to kill snakes. Adi Seshu, usually seen with Vishnu resting on him, is rarely depicted as a separate king.
