In Dainik Bhaskar’s ‘Mera Vote, Meri Marzi’ voter survey conducted between April 1 and 6, 5% of Gujarat residents said they were not going to vote this time.

What is special about the results is that 36% of those who did not vote feel that voting does not solve any problem. 22% believe that all candidates are useless and 22% do not trust EVMs.

44% of those who didn’t vote said the biggest problem in their area was job losses. 49% say the government doesn’t pay attention to their area.

Of these, 65% are those who never voted for NOTA. There are also 17% who have pressed the NOTA button more than three times so far. But this time don’t want to vote for NOTA too.

The biggest reason for not voting – voting does not solve any problem.

Those who did not vote were asked why they did not want to vote. Survey participants could choose any 3 options from a list of 10 options.

36% people definitely chose the option that ‘voting does not solve any problem’. while 22% of people believe that all candidates are useless.

The special thing is that 18% of people choose the option ‘all sides are useless’. This means that people have less problems with the parties and more problems with the candidates.

At the same time, 22% people also said that they do not trust EVMs.

10% of women said – they don’t have a voter’s card, 10% of teenagers also have the same complaint

7% of the people said they would not be able to vote because they did not have a voter’s card. If these people are divided by age and gender, shocking facts emerge.

10% of 18-30 year olds say they don’t have a voter card. while 10% of women also said they would not be able to vote due to the lack of a voter’s card.

29% of those aged 55+ feel that voting does not solve any problem. while the women who think so are 43%.

44% of those who did not vote said jobs are being lost in my area.

Those who did not vote in the survey were asked what is the biggest problem in their area. In response, 4 options were given-

  • Jobs are disappearing
  • Communalism is increasing
  • There is no connectivity to the train or the road
  • The government is not paying attention to my area

Survey participants could choose any of these three options.

44% people definitely chose this option that jobs end in their area. Another 49% said the government did not pay attention to their area.

Among those who did not vote, 45% of the youth said – jobs are ending in their area.

When asked what is the biggest problem in the field of those who did not vote, when the answers were divided in terms of age and gender, it was revealed that 45% of people between the ages of 18 and 30 are bothered. because of the loss of employment in the area.

The biggest problem for 53% of women is loss of employment. Whereas 54% of teenagers feel that the government does not pay attention to their area.

Of those who did not vote, 27% were those who had already voted for NOTA.

In the survey, those who expressed their intention not to vote were asked whether or not they had previously voted for NOTA in any Assembly or Lok Sabha elections. If given then several times – once, twice or more than three times.

73% people said they never voted for NOTA. But there are also 27% people who have already voted for NOTA, but now are not interested to even press the NOTA button. Among these there are 12% who have already pressed the NOTA button more than three times.

65% of youth who did not vote never voted for NOTA

Among the youth who did not vote, 65% never voted for NOTA. 35% have already voted for NOTA and of them, 17% have pressed the NOTA button more than 3 times.

Even among the women who did not vote, 35% were those who previously voted for NOTA. But this time she does not intend to vote for NOTA either.
