An endangered leopard has been spotted in the Lasbela district of Balochistan province, Pakistan. A video of a leopard roaming in the mountains near Kund Malir has gone viral on social media.

According to Balochistan Forest and Wildlife Department officials, the rare leopard was spotted near the historic Hindu Hinglaj Mata Mandir (grandmother temple) in the Kund Malir Hangul National Park in Lasbela, about 250 km from Karachi, when thousands of people gathered there. Hindu pilgrims were there to attend their annual religious festival.

Meanwhile, a pilgrim made a video where a leopard can be seen roaming on the hill in front of Nani Mandir. This video has become popular on various social media sites.

According to visitors, hundreds of people saw the animal from a few hundred meters away. He was walking quietly on the rocks of the mountain and after some time he disappeared on the other side of the mountain.

Sharifuddin Baloch, chief ranger of the Department of Forests and Wildlife, Balochistan, said that the place where the animal was seen near the water hole in the mountains is part of the Hangul National Park in the Kirthar mountains, where the animal is found. . animal is found. Apart from this, many other rare animals also have a natural habitat.

According to him, this animal belongs to the Persian leopard, which is one of the three species found in Pakistan. In the local Balochi language it is called Poling, Pashto Padang and in the Brahvi language Khaliga.

The Prussian leopard was included in the Red List of Threatened Species by the International Union for Conservation of Nature (IUCN) in 2016.

Muhammad Moazzam Khan called the presence of a rare breed of leopard as a happy future and emphasized on the measures for the protection and promotion of his breed.

Chief Warden Sharifuddin Baloch said that this leopard has been seen in Balochistan before and more than one has been reported in Kirthar range. Some time ago, he had eaten a small camel of a local shepherd from the area.
