The Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) has released the Civil Services Examination 2023 (CSE) result. This time a total of 1016 candidates have been selected, 664 male and 352 female candidates have cleared the UPSC. A total of more than 2800 candidates participated in the interview and got selected. After the result, those who qualify for IAS are sent for training at Lal Bahadur Shastri National Academy of Administration (LBSNAA). These candidates will receive 2 years of training.

Information about social, economic and political areas

These candidates are given basic information about governance, society, the country’s politics, the economy etc. for 3 months at the academy. Along with this the challenges of civil services are also presented. After completing the foundation course, Phase-1 training begins. At this time everyone will have Bharat Darshan.

IAS Level 1 training

Bharat Darshan: IAS officers under training or on probation are divided into different groups and taken to Bharat Darshan. So that they can know the culture, civilization and heritage of the country. In this sequence, he will meet the President, the Prime Minister and all the important persons of the country. After this, they are sent to different offices for a short period so that they can understand the working system there in detail. Trainee IAS officers are trained throughout the week at the Lok Sabha Secretariat. It is also part of Indian philosophy.

An educational module

After Bharat Darshan, the trainee IAS officers return to LBSNAA, where the 4 months of academic training begins. It covers topics like policy making, land management, project management, national security, e-governance. IAS training starts at 6 AM.

Area training

After the academic module, trainee IAS officers are sent for district training. He spends a year there. By staying in the same area, one comes to understand the challenges of the area and their solutions from the administrative work of various departments there. In a way, it’s hands-on training.

Second stage training

After completing the district training, the trainee IAS returns again to the Lal Bahadur Shastri National Academy of Administration. This is where their face-to-face training takes place. Where they share their area training experiences, challenges etc. At this stage, special sessions are organized where experts in different subjects train them.

When will you become a district collector?

After 2 years of training, trainee IAS officers become permanent IAS officers. After this they will be transferred to the department in question. After this, they start their service as Deputy District Magistrate (ADM), SDM, CDO, SDO or Joint Collector in the concerned state. These positions may vary according to the needs of each state. After spending a total of 6 years in these posts, IAS officers are appointed as Collector, DM or Deputy Commissioner.

Are trainees paid?

Government pays salaries to IAS officers trained at Lal Bahadur Shastri National Academy of Administration. He will get a salary of Rs 56,100 per month. Excludes TA-DA and HRA. However, there are many deductions from their salary and trainee IAS officers can get around 40 thousand.

When did the IAS service start?

The Indian Administrative Service was formed in 1946. Before this, during the British rule, there was the Indian Imperial Service (IIS), which was in force since 1893.
