Accusing Angus Robertson of being ‘hopeful’ on the costs of Tartan Week Achi-News

But when pressed to reveal the total costs of his trips since he took office in 2021, he failed to give an answer.

Conservative MP Edward Mountain had asked him to provide the costs, saying “a figure would be useful”.

Mr Robertson said that details of all ministerial trips are published as a matter of procedure by the Scottish Government.

He added that “the final cost details of the recent attendance at Tartan Week in the US are still being finalised”, promising to update the Conservative ASA with the information as soon as it becomes available.

But Mr Mountain accused Mr Robertson of being “hopeful”.

“I’m not sure that even attempts to answer my question,” Tory said.

“These trips are funded by the tax payer and they deserve to hear the answer, here in their own Parliament, exactly what these costs have been.

“We’re not treated with respect if we don’t get answers.”

Mr Robertson responded by saying the Tories could “push as much as they like”, adding: “It’s simply a statement of fact that, having only returned in recent weeks from Tartan Week, the latest travel information finally collected.”

He insisted that was a “perfectly reasonable answer” to the question, saying he was sure Mr Mountain “wouldn’t want me to pull numbers out of the air and answer it without having the facts”.
