ATTOCK – Lawlessness prevails in rural and urban areas of Attock district unabated with back to back cases of robbery. A woman was shot dead while resisting a domestic robbery in Attock town of Hazro on Tuesday night in Hazro police station limits. According to Police sources, Muhammad Zahid Khan, a resident of Mohalla Meerabad in Hazro Police station limits, went to a nearby mosque to offer Taraveeh. In his absence, a group of armed robbers forcefully entered his house and took his wife Sajida Bibi, 55 years old, hostage. The woman Sajida Bibi showed resistance and the dacoits shot her dead and fled with loot including one million rupees and gold ornaments. Later, her body was shifted to Hazro Hospital Tehsil Headquarters for autopsy.
The Hazro Police registered a case as per the usual procedure and launched an investigation. This unfortunate incident has spread a sense of insecurity among the residents of the area. In another road accident, a man died while two sustained multiple injuries when a rickshaw collided with a speeding motorcycle in Jand police station limits. As per the details, Akhtar r/o Jhamat was driving his rickshaw on his way when a speeding motorcycle collided with his rickshaw. As a result, the rickshaw driver received life-threatening injuries and died on the spot while the two students namely Hashir Saleem and Hashir Nasir who were on the speeding motorcycle received multiple injuries. The dead and injured were shifted to THQ Jand Hospital. The Jand police have registered a report and started an investigation. On the other hand, Jand police arrested drug smuggler Fakhar Alam from Karak area and recovered 10.5 kg hashish from his car at Mankoor Check Post. A case has been registered against him and he has been sent behind the bars.
