Bareilly: Civil Judge Ravi Diwakar, who delivered a historic verdict regarding the Gyanvapi Survey in Varanasi, has come to know that he was receiving threat calls from an anonymous number.

Civil Judge Ravi Diwakar has claimed that he has been receiving constant death threats from international numbers after his verdict on Gnanavapi. Against this backdrop, the Allahabad High Court had ordered category Y security for him and his family. It was later downgraded to X category.

Civil Judge Ravi Diwakar had ordered a survey of Gnanavapi Masjid. Judge Ravi Diwakar was recently transferred to Bareilly. He had initiated action in the case of the Bareilly riots in 2018 by taking a voluntary stand. In this case, a notice was sent to the accused Taukeer Raza to appear as the master.

Currently, Judge Ravi Diwakar has written a letter to SSP Bareilly regarding the threat case. He said that for the past week he has been receiving threatening calls from international numbers, which is very scary. In this background two security guards have been assigned to protect Judge Ravi Diwakar.

A colleague told the judge that the security was inadequate as the two security personnel did not have the necessary weapons to deal with terrorists who have automatic weapons and modern weapons.
