On April 22, 35 people from the Jain community will become monks in Gujarat. These include an 11-year-old boy and a business couple. Information in this regard was given by the religious trust of Surat Shri Adhyatma Parivar on Friday.

According to a release issued by Shree Adhyatma Parivar, a five-day initiation ceremony began on Thursday at the riverfront ‘Adhyatma Nagari’ Sabarmati for community members from Gujarat and Maharashtra, which will end on April 22. In this ceremony, 35 people will receive initiation from the revered Jain monk Acharya Vijay Yogatilakasurishwarji Maharaj. Of these, 10 are under the age of 18 and the youngest is an 11-year-old boy.

Left school two years ago to become a monk

At the same time, among the children who became beggars is the 13-year-old Shah, Musurat. Het left his studies about two years ago to study ‘Updhaan Tapa’, where one has to live like a hermit outside the house for 47 days. Mother Rimple Shah said Het is our only child. He left his studies about two years ago to stay with our gurus. Then he expressed his desire to stay away from worldly life. We accepted his will just as we were. Rimple said I believe there is nothing better than a monk’s life.

Bahvesh’s son and daughter became monks in 2021

Five couples who will close their businesses and lock their homes after receiving ‘diksha’ also give up their worldly assets. These include Ahmedabad-based businessman Bahvesh Bhandari (46) and his wife Jinal, 43, who ran a real estate and finance business. Bhandari’s son and daughter became monks in 2021.

Bahash said we saw our children living happily as monks. It is a myth that we cannot live a happy life without money or other luxuries. The teachings of our gurus also helped us in making decisions. Now, my father and elder brother will take over my business.
