Achi news desk-
When Covid swept the world in 2021, all nations worked around the clock to rapidly develop and release life-saving vaccines to their citizens and succeeded.
AstraZeneca admits to vaccine side effects
The first of these vaccines was the AstraZeneca and Oxford Covid vaccine. These were given the name Cowishield in India. But after a few days, rumors started to be heard against these vaccines. But by then, a large number of people around the world had received this vaccine.
This debate has been there ever since. But British pharmaceutical giant AstraZeneca has now admitted that the strength of the CoviShield vaccine rarely causes side effects.

What is the AstraZeneca argument?
In February 2023, the AstraZeneca company filed documents in a UK court that a rare side effect known as thrombosis with thrombocytopenia syndrome (TTS) can occur in humans.
AstraZeneca admitted in a court filing that ‘CoviShield can, in rare cases, cause a condition that can lead to blood clotting and a low platelet count.’
AstraZeneca, also known as AZD1222 or CoviShield in India, is the first to admit that its vaccine can cause a dangerous condition called thrombosis with thrombocytopenia syndrome.
There are many cases against AstraZeneca in court
In Britain, the CoviShield vaccine is facing lawsuits over allegations that it has caused death and serious injury in several cases.
The dispute went to court after the first plaintiff in the case, Jamie Scott, complained that he received the vaccine in April 2021, which resulted in permanent brain damage following a blood clot.
What is the relationship between AstraZeneca and the Serum Institute of India??
The covid vaccine has been jointly developed by AstraZeneca and Oxford University. In January 2021, Serum Institute of India (SII) signed a partnership with them to produce CoviShield vaccine for India.
According to official data, by April 2024, 1.7 billion doses of CoviShield have been administered in India as part of the world’s largest vaccination program.
What is the history of vaccination?
Adverse effects usually occur within the first few weeks (1-6 weeks) of vaccination, so people need not worry, doctors say.
Furthermore, the covid infection itself can cause blood clots, so it is more dangerous than the vaccine. Doctors said there is no need to fear that TTS can be caused not only by this Covid vaccine but also by flu vaccine, pneumococcal vaccine, H1N1 vaccination and rabies vaccine.
Countries where the AstraZeneca vaccine is banned
As a result of scrutiny of the vaccine, the vaccine was banned in several countries. Denmark was the first country to stop, followed by Ireland, Thailand, the Netherlands, Norway, Iceland, Congo and Bulgaria.
In 2021, several European countries such as Germany, France, Italy and Spain banned AstraZeneca’s Covid-19 vaccine in 2021 after cases of blood clots in patients were reported.
Later, Canada, Sweden, Latvia and Slovenia, Australia, Indonesia and Malaysia also suspended the vaccine.
