The situation is getting worse because of climate change. This will cause a loss of 38 lakh billion dollars to the global economy every year. South Asia and Africa will be most affected, with an average income loss of about 22% in 2050. Not only that, the global economy is expected to suffer a loss of about 19% of income in the next 25 years. In most parts of India this loss can be 20 to 25 percent. Scientists from Germany’s Potsdam Institute for Climate Impact Research (PIK) raised concerns in a study claiming that climate change will cause enormous economic damage in almost all countries.
South Asian and African countries are more affected
According to the study, South Asian and African countries will be mostly affected by this economic loss. At the same time, developed countries such as Germany, France and America will also be affected. The researchers said the estimated loss is huge and is about six times greater than the cost of reducing carbon emissions to keep the average temperature increase well below two degrees Celsius.
40 years of data research
Researchers examined weather and economic data from more than 1,600 regions around the world over the past 40 years. Based on the data analysis, he said the reduction in global income could be between 11% and 29%. It depends on uncertainties and data in different climate scenarios. Expressing concern, the researchers said that this loss is likely to be on a large scale.
