North Dinajpur: The Raiganj Lok Sabha constituency in Uttar Dinajpur district has become crowded with the battle of three candidates from different parties. Before the Lok Sabha elections, the people of the area had demanded that all political parties nominate candidates from among the people of the area and not from outsiders. There was a strong movement in the entire district including Raiganj.

And according to that Congress Left alliance, Trinamool Congress and BJP party have decided their candidates here only local people. And the most surprising thing is that all those who have been candidates from these three parties are known as party changers. Just as Left Congress candidate Ali Imran Ramz joined the Congress from the Forward Bloc, Trinamool Congress candidate Krishna Kalyani has been given a ticket here after joining the Trinamool Congress after becoming a BJP Member of Parliament. However, this Karthik Chandra Pal left Trinamool Congress and joined BJP in the year 2020 by taking the hand of Subhendu Adhikari. Among the 42 constituencies of the state, there is Nazarkara Raiganj. Of course, it will not be disturbed or why! The three main contenders were in other teams in the past. Therefore, it will not be an exaggeration to say that the three have changed. On Sunday evening, the name of Karthik Pal was announced as the BJP candidate for Raiganj constituency. Krishna Kalyani of Trinamool and Ali Imran Ramaj of Congress alias Victor are contesting from this seat.

BJP candidate Karthik Pal became one of the confidants of the then Congress leadership by forming a student council in his student days. Later he became a Congress leader. But he joined Trinamool in 2016. In late 2020, he jumped directly from Trinamool to BJP. It would not be wrong to say that Karthik Babu’s political career is colorful like a rainbow.

On the other hand, Trinamool candidate Krishna Kalyani joined the BJP in a meeting held at the Merchant Club Maidan in Raiganj ahead of the 2021 assembly elections. Several BJP leaders including Debashree Chowdhury, Arjun Singh were present there that day. Soon after winning the assembly elections, he trusted Ghasphule and joined Trinamool.

Again, Congress candidate Ali Imran Ramz alias Victor Sara Bharat was a three-time MLA in Forward Block. Later, Azad Hind joined the National Congress after five months in 2022.
However, the three main rivals have given their own arguments for the electoral battle despite the party change. BJP candidate Kartik Pal said, ‘The party will change. How will the government change if the party does not change? Changeable as people. The rest will be seen in the polls in the coming days.’ In the words of Trinamool candidate Krishna Kalyani, ‘Nothing is done with the past. Always keep the present and the future in mind. Nothing can be determined with a child past three years of age. Before 1998, there was no Trinamool. Everyone was in Congress then. So there is no such thing as the past. The present and the future are real.’

Once again, Congress candidate Victor Ali Safai said, ‘Whoever is with people is a big problem. People have no faith in anti people BJP government. There is no place for the Congress in the entire country to fight against the BJP. So the past is nothing. The real issue is whether people are around. People are only with the Congress.’ All three candidates continue their campaigns vigorously. But now it’s time to see who gets the last laugh in the voting arena.
